This USA-made system is a significant upgrade over the previous setup and underscores the difference that quality engineering and careful system design can make.

A Problematic Past System

The system we replaced had been cobbled together using old parts by a previous vendor. This patchwork solution caused intermittent poor signal and audio quality, leaving the end user with inconsistent performance, causing them to face unnecessary challenges in their daily operations.

The Alpha Prime Solution

Recognizing the need for a robust and reliable system, we turned to EMR for a custom Antenna Combining System. This high-quality, American-made solution was engineered to maximize signal quality and minimize interference. Once installed, an increase in signal performance and audio quality were instantly noticeable. The Tait DMR Tier 3 system this was designed for now functions seamlessly, providing the end user with a dependable, high-performance communications network.

Understanding the Science Behind Minimizing Reflected Power

A key factor in achieving optimal system performance lies in minimizing reflected power. Reflected power occurs when a mismatch exists between the antenna and the transmission line, causing a portion of the signal to bounce back toward the transmitter instead of propagating outward. High levels of reflected power can degrade signal quality, reduce coverage, and damage equipment over time.

EMR designs solutions to address this issue effectively. Their systems significantly reduce reflected power by ensuring proper impedance matching and utilizing advanced engineering principles. This attention to detail is one of the reasons why the new combining system has made such a dramatic difference for our client.

The Role of New Antennas

In addition to the combining system, we replaced the old antennas with three new Comprod Dipole Antennas, one for receive and two for transmit. These antennas were selected for their specific radiation patterns designed to maximize coverage. The new Comprod Dipole antennas replaced old fiberglass sticks and have enhanced the system’s overall performance, ensuring that every message is transmitted clearly and reliably. This strategic upgrade shows how the right equipment and supporting infrastructure choices are critical to radio communications networks.
